This Story of Perfume has become a cherished part of countryside folklore, often recounted as Mohur ke Mateera literally translating to Mohur or Brain. Ildu was never much for brain, as he chose Mohur in this exciting tale of patriotism and eccentricity. Within the family, Ildu is affectionately known as The Party Crasher, a title he earned rightfully for his daring act of gate crashing a British Christmas party in Kolkata back in 1937. His motive was to experience the scented aromas worn by the foreigners during the Christmas ball and supper. Admired by both men and women, his fragrances gained remarkable success in the early 1920s, thanks to their long lasting performance and his friendly approach. This initial triumph provided him just enough means to explore small leather items. Despite his best efforts leather goods found limited acceptance in the shadow of his thriving business of scents. Having provided raw materials to numerous French perfume companies, Ildela has evolved into a renowned brand celebrated for its iconic Eau de Parfums and high-quality Attars today.
